A dibber is a great tool for transplanting seedlings from seedling trays or direct sowing larger seeds. The blunt end can be used to tamp down soil in a seedling tray, make holes for larger seeds, or make dibbed holes larger for seedlings. I make these in about a week from sustainably harvested wood or otherwise recycled wood without the use of power tools. In general, prices are as follows your dibbers up to 9" long and 3/4" wide (1 3/8" wide for softwood). Any deviations to price will be addressed before work begins, but unless you need something very large, or made from a wood I don't have in my shop prices below will stand. $25 per hardwood dibber (up to 1" in diameter). I can put an finish it at no extra charge, or leave it unfinished. They will be sanded to 600 grit providing very soft feel in the hand. $20 for a shou sugi ban finished softwood dibber. The dibber is first charred and then sanded. Finally, several coats of a food safe danish oil are applied. $15 for an up-cycled (usually softwood) dibber. If you like to hang your tools I can bore a hole about an inch back from the blunt end at no extra charge. Depth markings can also be added at no charge (not possible on shou sugi ban dibbers). Prices above are for commissioned pieces, due to the extra work required in ensuring they meet your specifications. I may sell others directly at varying prices based on the work, wood, and desire to get the piece sold. Images above some dibbers I have previously made. The last picture has five dibbers: upcycled linden, pine, shou sugi ban (pine), pine (with depth markers 1" apart), and highly sanded western maple. Pickup in the vicinity of Thetis Lake.
