At Bo's Beautiful Creations all of my items are hand-knit. I have been a knitter for over 6 decades now. I initially learned how to knit in grade two at which time we learned the two basic stitches: knit and purl. I continued to improve my skill learning from my Mom who was a very talented knitter. By the time I was an adult I had collected a number of items and so I started to participate in local festivals/craft fairs in Ontario. Once I retired from teaching and had more time to knit my bins started to fill up with my creations and so I decided to join the JBCM in 2004 and have been a vendor at this market and a number of Christmas markets ever since. I follow printed patterns to produce my items but I do like to embellish patterns and put my own spin on the final product. I think I have a good eye for colour and so I like to use that talent to combine colours within the same piece and to double up yarns of different colours in order to strengthen the final item for longer wear. This is especially true of my slippers and slipper socks. Not only does it render them stronger and therefore extend their wear but it also makes for interesting and, I think, unique colours and colour combinations. Come on down to the James Bay Community Market at the corner of Superior and Menzies between 9 am and 3 pm in James Bay this, and every Saturday until September 24th for great, hand knit items for babies, adults and your kitchen.
