ABOUT Our company has been providing custom cabinets and millwork to both commercial and residential clients in the Victoria area for the past thirty years. We have an extensive list of residential clients as well as commercial clients. Cabinet Maker Job Description We are a small custom cabinet shop located in Victoria, BC seeking a motivated, hardworking individual to oversee the creation of cabinetry from start to finish. To this end, the right individual will be responsible for hand-picking the most suitable materials, cutting, machining, construction, and installation of the cabinets. Cabinet Maker Responsibilities: • Selecting the appropriate materials, fittings, and tools for each task. • Must have good knowledge of a standard table saw, sliding table panel saw, edgebander, boring machine and other power and hand tools used in manufacturing cabinetry. • Cutting materials to size, as needed. • Planning an effective approach to work to ensure that each project is completed on time. • Creating standard and custom components of cabinets. • Gathering the elements of each cabinet and assembling the final product. • Applying sealant, varnish, and paint to cabinets, if required. • Inspecting each completed cabinet to ensure that it has been constructed accurately, all hardware functions as it should and that the necessary finishes have been applied. • Repairing elements of cabinets that have been sent in for servicing. • Wearing the requisite clothing and taking necessary precautions to remain safe. • Keeping a clean and safe work environment both in the shop and on client work sites. Cabinet Maker Requirements: • Attention to detail. • Completion of a training program or apprenticeship will be advantageous but not a requirement. • Min. 2-3 years’ experience is an asset. • Good arithmetic skills. • Able to read and comprehend drawings. • Excellent team worker and customer service skills. • Ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing workmanship. • Physical fitness, including ease of movement and the capability to lift 50 pounds. • Experience installing cabinets is an asset. • CSA approved footwear. • Small hand tools. • Able to work overtime if needed. • Clean BC drivers abstract.
