Featured concerts at Hermann's Upstairs include: MALIKA TIROLIEN FRIDAY, JUNE 23 ~ 9:15PM $35 (service charges may apply) Montreal-based Malika Tirolien is a remarkable vocalist, musician, songwriter and producer from Guadeloupe. She is garnering international attention with her creative collaborations, and her latest release Higher is the second in a tetralogy featuring earth, air, fire and water themes. It is a shining example of afro-futuristic styling, and showcases a new genre called "high soul,” mixing R&B, soul, hip hop and jazz. OSTARA PROJECT SATURDAY, JUNE 24 ~ 9:15PM $42 (service charges may apply) The Ostara Project is a JUNO-nominated super-group showcasing Canadian women in jazz. The artists are top-tier musicians, composers and bandleaders who reflect the cultural and creative diversity of Canada’s musical landscape. SUMRRÁ MONDAY, JUNE 26 ~ 9:15PM $35 (service charges may apply) From Galicia, Spain, contemporary jazz trio Sumrrá has an unclassifiable and melodic jazz style that highlights original compositions. They present a truly unique sound, accompanied by technique, lyricism, swing, and even humour. BRANDEE YOUNGER TRIO WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28 ~ 9:15PM $42 (service charges may apply) Harpist and Grammy/NAACP Image Award nominee Brandee Younger performs across countless genres. Her composition Hortense was featured in Beyoncé’s documentary, Homecoming. Her trio will play from her 2023 album at TD JazzFest 2023! EMMET COHEN TRIO THURSDAY, JUNE 29 ~ 9:15PM $42 (service charges may apply) Internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and music educator Emmet Cohen returns to Victoria with his trio for TD JazzFest 2023! In 2019, he won the American Pianists Award and the Cole Porter Fellow of the American Pianists Association. ISAIAH COLLIER & THE CHOSEN FEW FRIDAY. JUNE 30 ~ 9:15PM $35 (service charges may apply) Isaiah Collier is a Chicago-based, 24-year-old saxophonist, educator, and writer. He has released 3 albums to date. Since he began playing saxophone at age 11, Collier and Isaiah Collier & The Chosen Few have caught attention worldwide.
