Victoria’s first in-person Canada Day in three years will showcase Canada's diversity and provide something for everyone. The festivities will begin with a traditional canoe arrival by the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations escorting Mayor Lisa Helps and members of the City’s Canada Day committee to Ship Point on the Inner Harbour. A welcoming ceremony on the Canada Day main stage will follow at noon featuring a performance from the Lekwungen Dancers. “This is the first time since the pandemic that residents and visitors will come together for Canada Day in our capital city,” said Mayor Lisa Helps. “We are working hard to create an event that honours the Lekwungen people and their lands and culture and to offer a fun, family-friendly and inclusive event that reflects the diversity of our community and our country.” This year’s celebrations will feature an array of diverse, locally-focused performances along with interactive activities, experiential exhibits and multicultural food options and will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display at 10:20 p.m. The main stage will have an accessible viewing area and volunteers will be on hand to offer assistance. A schedule of the main stage performances and more information is coming soon! Highlights of Canada Day: * The day will begin with an Indigenous traditional canoe protocol and Welcome Ceremony, and a performance by the Lekwungen Dancers. * Live Multicultural Performances on the Main Stage from Noon until 10:20 p.m. * Accessible area for viewing * Multicultural Street Market with Artisan Vendors * Flavours of the World Food Court with the best of the Victoria Food Truck scene * Family festivities including a bouncy castle, bouncy obstacle course, face painting and glitter tattoos will run from noon until 5 p.m. in the Kid’s Zone at Ship Point.
