Our long-established local firm is seeking to hire two new customs brokers to join our team. The role of a customs broker is to help facilitate the importation and movement of imported goods into Canada on behalf of private businesses and individuals. Customs brokers work as independent businesses, but we also work closely with CBSA and other government agencies. Brokers account for almost 90% of goods imported to Canada. Responsibilities include: - Communicating with clients regarding their shipments - Preparing and submitting customs entries and documents for other government departments - Ensuring goods are released efficiently, and coordinating final delivery - Monitoring the movement of goods and communicating with carriers and agents Skills include: - Ability to type 40+ WPM - Excellent customer service skills - Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs - Excellent communication skills, both written and oral - Ability to prioritize tasks, and to adjust on the fly - Able to work effectively both in a team environment and independently A career in customs brokerage is interesting, varied, and challenging. The bulk of knowledge comes from on-the-job training and through accredited courses offered by the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers.
