The Adult Introduction to Rowing introduces novices to the sport of rowing in 9 sessions. Develop sculling skills (two oars!), boat handling and awareness in a variety of boats – 1x, 2x, 4x. This program is a great way to get a feel for the sport and a way to get on the water in your first session! The first session begins with an overview of the boathouse, the rowing stroke, getting boats out of the bay and into the water and then... your first short outing in the boat. Subsequent sessions having you rowing on beautiful Elk Lake, wind permitting. In the case you're blown off the water, you'll get a chance to learn all about using the rowing machine you see in gyms. No experience or fitness is required, and all ages 18+ are welcome. Rowing is a great late-entry sport. It's also a great late-late-late-late-late-entry sport. There's an 80+ competition category for a reason! Programs are led by certified coaches who create a fun and supportive learning environment.
