Grocery Manager

The Root Cellar is now hiring a Grocery Manager to join our Team! We are a locally owned and operated green grocer in Victoria, B.C. with a focus on sustainability and farm fresh food. In addition to providing the largest selection of fresh produce on Vancouver Island, we also offer a curated selection of grocery items, a full-service deli and butcher shop, and an extensive garden centre. Reporting to the Store Manager, the Grocery Manager is responsible for all aspects of the grocery and dairy departments. The Grocery Manager will ensure all store policies and procedures are adhered to and the highest of quality standards are met. As a member of our Management Team, the Grocery Manager will model outstanding teamwork, leadership, communication skills, and customer service skills while being committed to the success of the Root Cellar Village Green Grocer team. Key Responsibilities:  Plan and implement grocery, dairy, and bread product merchandising to maximize sales, customer satisfaction, and complement overall store appearance.  Maintain all orders, receiving, pricing, signage, and loss tracking for maximum profit and sales.  Support the planning, execution and tracking of ad items.  Follow and enforce all labour standards and regulations.  Supervise grocery staff by enforcing all store policies and procedures.  Ensure appropriate team member scheduling coverage while staying within labour budget.  Handle all customer concerns in an effective positive manner. Qualifications:  1-3 years of retail management experience, preferably in a grocery environment.  The ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high-volume environment.  A passion for motivating and developing an effective team.  The physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for long periods of time, and lift 25-50 pounds.  Full-time availability and a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
