$450 · Vintage Bertrand 1000 road bike, handmade steel, Campagnolo Chorus components
This is a legitimate piece of Canadian cycling history, handmade by Gilles Bertrand himself in 1989!
The frame is made of classic Columbus SL steel tubes and has the original 80s paint job, which has quite a few touchups, but looks beautiful from a couple of feet away!
The components are a nearly complete Campagnolo Chorus groupset: front derailleur, cransket, bottom bracket, headset, brake levers, monoplanar brakes, hubs and seatpost (except rear derailleur which is period correct Shimano 600).
The components are in beautiful condition...and if you're enterprising would fetch more than my asking price on the popular auction site.
The Chorus aero seatpost alone is a rare find and is quite valuable! The bars and stem are original Cinelli, and the seat is the original Selle Italia Turbo which shows quite a bit of wear.
The wheelset is very nice...narrow tubular rims built around original Campy Chorus hubset. Both tubular tires are in good shape and I'll even throw in a spare:)
Frame is 56cm...can fit a rider from about 5'8" to around 6'1". For reference the current seat height is for a 5'10" person with a 31" inseam.
It's been completely tuned up and everything works well. The hubs, headset and bottom bracket are newly greased and smooth.
Pick up downtown near MEC.
