The Tone King represents the new technology in attenuators. Previous and original designs were load type which are essentially hi watt resistors which sucked tone as they attenuate. The Tone King is among the new type which are reactive type which is in it's most basic description, a speaker without a cone. This allows attenuation while keeping your tone. Works with tube amps 30 watts and under. Tubes need to be driven hard or the tone suffers. Tame your Deluxe Reverb or similar amp. I sold my Deluxe and bought a Champ so I no longer need it.
