The Licensed Nature Based After-school Care program area include Licensed Group Child Care for School-age Program, Pro-D Days, and Holidays Camps. The program is designed for children ages 6-12 and runs 2:00pm-5:45pm Monday to Friday. The Support Worker is expected to build relationships with children, youth, and families within their designated programs while ensuring an inclusive engaging and safe environment. The Support Worker is responsible for assisting with nature based inclusive programs while complying with VIHA licensing regulations and agency policy and procedures. The Support Worker will work one on one with the supported youth in outdoor settings. The successful candidate will bring to their role energy, creativity, dependability, organization, a passion for empowering all children and a general attitude of support to the Boys and Girls Club as well as the community served. Qualifications * Minimum of 20 hours of training or courses in one of the following areas: child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition * Minimum of one year of recent experience working with children and youth ages 6-12 ( licensed child care setting an asset) * Demonstrated innovative and inclusive program planning and a preventative approach to behavioral management * Excellent communication skills * Current Standard First Aid certification/CPR C * Reliable transportation * A criminal record check will be processed prior to employment Job Information * Wage: $17.00 hour + 4% vacation pay * Term: September 8th- June 25th, 2021 (training day Sept 8th,2020) * Hours: 12.5 hours/week * Location: Metchosin Club, 3900 Metchsoin Road, Victoria, V9C 4A8 * Job Opportunities: Comprehensive professional development * To apply: Submit your resume and cover letter stating the position that you are applying to employment@bgcvic.org * The posting will remain open until the position is filled.
