$20 · Sous-Chef - Summer Contract

A beautiful retirement residence and community located on the Saanich Peninsula is looking for a Sous-Chef to be part of their busy kitchen for the summer! Meals are served at 12 noon (lunch) and 5pm (dinner). SOUS-CHEF Opportunity: Full time, temporary position Location: Saanichton, BC Hours: 5 days per week, 8.30am - 5.00pm or 10.00am - 6.30pm Pay rate: $18-20 /hour Start: Early June, for 12-14 weeks Your Main Responsibilities; * Assist in menu planning as requested * Participate in the receiving, inspecting, storing and inventory of all food stuffs, supplies and materials * Prepare, cook, and bake a variety of foods, including but not limited to entrées, vegetables and baked goods * Assist in planning and scheduling work for other food service staff to ensure a smooth flow in the kitchen work environment * Participate in the serving of food items * Participate in the cleaning of kitchen area and equipment using the prescribed safety equipment and approved cleaning chemicals * Small amount of dishwashing support/cover * Assist in ensuring high standards of meals are maintained at all times Qualifications required; * Completion of Level 1 Food Safe * Current WHMIS Certificate * Experience working in a fast paced kitchen environment * Formal food training would be a strong asset * Excellent organization skills and the ability to work with little or no supervision Advantages; * Full-time summer work * Full weeks' orientation and training given * Daily lunch is included * Free on-site parking * Work in a not-for-profit organisation, with a dedicated and supportive team If this sounds like you, please email your resume to sarah.harwood@randstad.ca.
