For sale from private collection this beautiful Roman Military bronze belt stiffener applique. Of typical propellor shape with a very nice central design. This applique was most likely once part of a sword or dagger belt. Roman leather was quite soft so these decorative plates were riveted all along the length of the belt as a form of decoration, to allow flexibility but also at the same time give strength and rigidity to the leather. Beautiful dark patina, in very nice condition. Dated circa 200 AD - 300 AD Bronze Size : 34 mm Long X 20 mm Wide
