$15 · Rider's Dry-land Training for New/Beginner Motorcylclists

Thinking of learning to ride? On the bench for the cooler weather but still want to work on those riding skills? Learning to ride a motorbike can be intimidating and scary. Mistakes can be costly. But learning doesn't have to be this hard and dangerous. Introducing dry-land training! By drilling basic skills on a trail, you can develop your riding reflexes and muscle memory, learn cornering and body position basics, and train your eyes to scan and anticipate corners and obstacles all without getting on a bike. I am a former yoga teacher and avid rider. I created this routine when I started riding in 2017 (almost 60,000 kms ago!) and it works. Wouldn't you rather work through some basic riding scenarios (the "What should I do ifs?") at walking speed instead of city or even highway speeds on a bike you are just learning to operate? Dry-land gives you a place to muddle through braking and cornering coordintion and decision-making when the stakes are, well, non-existent. We will meet at Mt. Doug trail system at 3 pm on Saturday starting November 7. The pace is energetic but not grueling. If you can walk an easy to moderate trail at a brisk pace you should be fine. You will need runners or light hikers (ankle support preferred), a couple of light layers--more if it's chilly-- and clothing you can move easily in. Limit three people. Please text or call to confirm your spot. COVID rules apply. For example, you must not have any symptoms and must not have travelled on a plane in the past 2 weeks. You MUST respect social distancing guidelines. Bring a mask in case you need it. Come check it out. Should be lots of fun and a great little workout to boot. Not too tough, I promise. Sorry, no dogs.
