Residential Care Worker Weekend Position

Vancouver Island Autistic Homes Society (VIAH) is currently seeking an energetic Residential Care Worker to fill a weekend position. We provide person-focused residential care and community integration services to adults with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the Greater Victoria area. Residential Care Workers participate as members of the case management team to enhance and promote genuine enjoyment of life and functional skills acquisition for clients. RCWs provide supports for client's physical, social, behavioural, educational, vocational, cultural, spiritual, etc., needs. This Regular Part-Time Position is for Saturdays and Sundays, from 7am-3pm. Job Skills and Abilities Required: * knowledge of features of autism spectrum disorder * ability to follow instructions and to implement teaching and behavioural programs * ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients * ability to work with clients with challenging behaviour * good written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills * ability to work effectively with others * knowledge of theory, principles and practises in the community living field * good time and crisis management skills * program activities require a moderate level of physical fitness * ability to drive residence vehicle, and use of personal vehicle at times Do you have knowledge of autism and medication administration, and experience working with individuals with challenging behaviours?
