Raptor Handler & Educator

The Raptors is a bird of prey and falconry organization dedicated to raising awareness for birds of prey and promoting conservation. We are looking for a Raptor Handler & Educator to join our team! This position would include working at our visitor centre in Duncan, BC, as well as at various wildlife control projects across the island and further. At our visitor centre, you would be responsible for working with our wildlife team to care for our team of raptors, and to educate the public through demonstrations and hands-on experiences. For the Wildlife control aspect, you would be working with trained raptors to mitigate environmental and safety hazards caused by specific "nuisance" species at various sites. This can be physically demanding and include being outside in all weather conditions at all times of the year. An ideal candidate would have: * Some Post-secondary education, ideally in a science-related field. * Adaptability to a variety of work and tasks * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment * Ability to work with a team, as well as be self-directed at times * Excellent communication skills * Organizational skills * Passion for and experience with animals, especially birds * Passion for conservation and the environment * Public speaking and/or education experience * Willingness to travel for different work opportunities An exceptional candidate would also possess: * First aid skills * Raptor handling/animal training experience * Excellent customer service skills This is a full-time, seasonal position with the potential for development into a permanent position in the future.
