Possibly stolen iPad

I bought an iPad off of Facebook marketplace in December 2019 and when we tried to activate it, we found out it has an activation lock. I tried to contact the seller and shocking he blocked me. I have screenshots of his Facebook profile and our conversation regarding the sale. I went to the Police but they were not able to do much and I now have it back in my possession. I am looking for the possible owner. If you think you may have lost your iPad in December 2019, email me. I am hoping to find the rightful owner and maybe they can recognize the seller. I met the seller at UVic and from what I have found out he went to MT Doug Secondary. I'm out the money I paid for it but just trying to do the right thing.
