It's not the World's Ugliest car...but it is the 1st runner up ? When it was first introduced by Pontiac,...this was the world's first 'Crossover Utility Vehicle', or CUV., the 'evolution' of the SUV, most of which really never did venture 'off road'. It was a lighter, roomier, and more versatile SUV. The Aztek might be excepting that He had already imagined Australia's Duck Billed Platypus. Somewhere a group of engineers responded to a 'wish list' bucket, and made a vehicle that was so 'unique' that they knew nobody would ever dare to take it seriously. Little did they know that the 'concept' vehicle that was 'born' in 1999 would go into serious full production with virtually no changes for the 2000 model lineup. The Aztek was trying to be able to do just about most anything for anybody, except look pretty. In any case, 'ugly' is only skin deep, and form and function become the thing of practical or real beauty. More than once, have pulled up to someone's house to pick up an item, and they will exclaim, "That will never fit in there." But when I get out the keys again to drive away with the items all aboard, time and time again, I am asked..."What kind of a car is that?" It's a Prius on steroids. It will tow up to 3500 pounds. It has been the preferred choice of taxi drivers in Fort 'McNo-where' (Fort McMurray). Are there are others out there who might like to join a loose knit group of Aztek fans. Source parts. Share tips on fixes. Pull out the centre console picnic 'baskets' and have an outing at Beacon Hill park on Canada Day. Complete with Tent Packages and Custom Aztek Air Mattress. :) Or not. Maybe we could possibly have a 'Zoom' debate night, with topics such as arguing about whether or not Elon Musks' Tesla Truck is number one...for you know...'Awkward Design Award' this year...or all-time champ? Anyways...I won't respond to folks who are going to be rude or negative...hopefully, there will be a small network of car buffs that might like to be able to laugh at themselves, but defend their pet 'Tekkie'.
