Hourly Wage: $32.20-40.22 (with a scheduled wage increase in October 2020) Location: Veterans Memorial Lodge - Saanich Position #: 64564 Schedule: 17.5 hours weekly (.50 FTE) Status: Regular Part Time Competition #: 2020-115 Closing Date: September 29, 2020 SUMMARY Reporting to both the Director of Care, the physiotherapist provides services for residents at the Veterans Memorial Lodge at Broadmead and clients of the Veterans Health Centre. The Physiotherapist (PT) plans, develops, implements and evaluates physical therapy programs and services, communicates in oral and written format residents' and clients' clinical and program needs to the interdisciplinary team and community agencies; performs administrative duties associated with the physical therapy program; oversees the implementation of components of physical therapy care plans and activity programs by therapy assistants, resident care staff, activity workers, and bath assistants. Participation in interdisciplinary team rounds and care conferences is also required. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from a university with an approved program in Physiotherapy, as well as current registration in good standing, or eligible for registration with the College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia: eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Experience: * Experience providing physical therapy services in a long term care and/or community health setting with elderly individuals who have chronic physical and psychosocial disabilities. * Experience working with an interdisciplinary team. * Previous experience working with veterans considered an asset. * Experience working with people with dementia is preferred. General Competencies: * Effective verbal communication skills with clients of varying levels of cognition, families, and staff. * Ability to supervise staff, students and volunteers where appropriate. * Proven knowledge of the principles of dementia care.
