Overnight Concierge

The Peninsula and Norgarden are two beautiful retirement communities in the lovely seaside town of Sidney, BC. We consider working with our residents a privilege and we are passionate about it. We are currently hiring an overnight concierge. This is a great position if you are a night owl, like diversity (from cleaning and responding to emergencies to ensuring the security of our buildings), and don't shy away from working well when you are alone. There are enough duties to keep you busy through the night, but also allow for some down time. That said, shifts can be "run off your feet busy", or fairly quiet. Its not like a typical overnight job of an auditor for a hotel. There is minimal processing of paperwork, and usually limited interaction with residents. But you do need to be able to use email, word, and excel. There are no complex computer systems to learn. However, you do need to have above average verbal and written communication skills. You also need to be very detailed oriented. If you have worked with seniors that is a huge asset. We are looking for someone who can think on their feet, is articulate, empathetic, and can remain calm and collected should an emergency arise. The shifts are Saturday and Sunday from 8pm to 8am, and Monday and Tuesday from 11pm to 7am. The pay is above average for an overnight position, because we want to be able to hire the best.
