Night Caseworker Hours of work: 1:00 am to 8:00 am Manchester House opened in 1984. The House provides a transition home for people returning to our community from various institutions. The House is owned and operated by the John Howard Society of Victoria. We are looking for an organized and computer literate individual with good written and communication skills to work with male adult offenders. This person must possess the ability to work independently while recognizing the importance of working within a team environment. They will be required to work with Federal and Provincial offenders including those with a mental illness. Skills and Qualifications: * Certificate or 2 years experience in related field * Ability to obtain Enhanced Reliability Clearance from Corrections of Canada * Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with federal offenders * Knowledge of and experience in the field of Substance Abuse and Mental Health * Ability to understand the dynamics of offender's behaviour and assess their needs and risks. * Skills to understand the use of authority in supervision and to intervene effectively in crisis situations * Ability to understand cultural differences * Computer literate in Word * Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificate Benefits: Comprehensive benefit package including extended health and RRSPs Full-time 35 hours per week at $18.62-20.15/hour Process: * Competition open to both JHS internal and external candidates * Submit resume and cover letter Kathy.Roy@jhsvic.ca * Telephone calls will not be accepted
