Music Therapist

The Victoria Conservatory of Music is currently accepting applications for a position of Music Therapist. Qualifications: The successful applicant will hold a minimum of a recognized bachelor degree in Music Therapy and must have their MTA status. MTA candidates completing their internship might also be considered. The applicant must also have a wide experience working with participants in various populations, have extensive musicianship skills, as well as experience in administration and building/nurturing relationships with new business partners. In addition, the successful applicant must demonstrate the strengths in the following areas: - music skills of age-appropriate music therapy activities (educational and therapeutic), as well as improvisation skills - technology experience, comfortable using computer for recording (GarageBand, Soundbeam), working with educational music software and report writing (Excel, Word) - ability to interact and communicate effectively with participants, parents and staff An affinity, including respect and sensibility to work with participants of all ages with special learning needs and challenges is essential to this position. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the growth and success of the VCM's Music Therapy Department and must be passionate about bringing positive change to our community. The successful candidate must also provide their own transportation to and from the various program delivery sites in the community when not offering sessions on-site. This is a part time starting position with schedule flexibility and with great opportunities to become full time very quickly. Pay rate: between $50.20 and $56.99 per hour + mileage fee for outreach community sites visit.
