Maintenance Handyman/Worker (Haida Gwaii)

Langara Island Lodge: Maintenance Handyman/Worker Langara Island Lodge located in Haida Gwaii offers 5-star access to the world's best salmon fishing, with relaxing and spacious accommodations, gourmet dining, and spa services. We are located atop a scenic bluff overlooking Langara's abundant waters. Currently we are seeking someone to support our maintenance team for the upcoming season. The position being offered at this time is seasonal. Duties: Perform repair and maintenance duties of minor electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, mechanical engineering service inquiries within resort environment. Work areas will be assigned as needed based on skill level and experience. Respond to in-house guest calls in a timely manner and assist as needed. Understand and perform basic construction methods and materials. Keep accurate records of assigned tasks and work completed, ensuring proper communication with management. Make sure that storage areas and workshops are kept clean and organized. Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager such as assisting maintenance associates as required in a team effort. Physical Demands: Work tasks are performed both indoors and outdoors, must be willing to work in unfavorable weather conditions at times. The worker is subject to all workplace safety standards: includes a variety of conditions such as moving mechanical parts, electrical generators, high places and extreme terrane related to remote location. Must have full mobility and be able to stand for up to 5 hours. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis, 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, and 100 lbs. occasionally. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Qualifications: Prior related experience in the field of maintenance an asset. Requires good communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Post-secondary education studies in a related field an asset, high school or equivalent education required. Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as per Langara Island Lodge standards. Experience working with power tools required. Job Type: Contract May-September
