Looking for a textile artist

I am looking for an artist, perhaps a textile artist, who might be interested in repurposing old wool rugs into wall or floor art? We are renovating a house and I am mindful of using established local artisans wherever possible in this project. I have a space on the floor for this old rug but as you can see, it is out of date and not very beautiful. Yet from a functional standpoint, it is in very good shape, regularly cleaned and the wool is of an excellent quality. This rug and another similar will go for donation and there are many other rugs like this going for next to nothing at Lunds each week. I am wondering if there is an artist out there interested in perhaps, dying, carving, weaving in, or doing whatever makes sense to bring a contemporary esthetic to this rug - so it is not just functional but a beautiful piece of art too. I would be interested in speaking with to see if there might be a fit.
