Required Work Experience: Minimum 1 year working for either a horticultural, a landscaping or a gardening company. The work is physically demanding; at the work site you may be standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads of 40-50 lbs and climbing ladders. Some days you will work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, with repetitive tasks. Job sites: Various locations on southern Vancouver Island, at residential properties, home owners stratas and commercial establishments Principle work tasks will be: − Weeding, pruning, trimming and shaping trees, shrubs and plants; − Operate and maintain landscape power equipment including mowers, line trimmers, lawn edgers, blowers, roto-tiller and hedge clippers − Planting: bulbs, flowers, shrubs and trees; − Sodding: installing sod or seeding lawns; − Cutting, edging and blowing grass; − Raking and clean-up of garden and yard refuse; − Carting and spreading topsoil and other materials; − Applying fertilizers, Watering and tending to plants, lawns and/or gardens; − Assisting with landscape constructions; − Writing daily basic progress reports; − You may be required to drive a pick-up truck and a 1 ton truck Required: Valid drivers' licence and own transportation for travel to and between job sites Required: Dress appropriately for work conditions: outdoors, can be wet/damp; noisy; dusty; and hot/cold Required Team work: You are an effective communicator with interpersonal skills, flexible, dependable, reliable and organized.
