Based in Victoria, BC, DGW Law provides a wide range of legal and financial services to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, as well as partners working with Aboriginal interests in Canada. Our practice focuses on aboriginal law and includes litigation, negotiation, and corporate and commercial work. DGW Law encourages the application of Indigenous legal traditions to resolve legal issues. As part of our team, the intern will work side-by-side with firm partners, associates and support staff. Tasks may include drafting correspondence to clients and government agencies; conducting legal research; preparing memoranda; and drafting pleadings, corporate documentation, governance materials, and commercial agreements. What The Position Offers -approximately 12 weeks paid internship between May and August; -a competitive salary; -travel expenses to a successful candidate who is coming from outside Victoria, BC; -regular and accessible mentoring sessions with the firm's three partners, Christopher Devlin, John Gailus, and Tim Watson. The Successful Applicant Must -identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit; -have completed at least one year of law school; -be professional and detail-oriented; -have excellent written communication skills; and -be able to manage shifting priorities within a team environment.
