Health & Safety Coordinator

Job Description: - Maintaining training records - Ensuring employees work in compliance to company health and safety standards, in addition to industry regulations -Providing safety-related information to Management, Supervisors and Workers as required and requested - Controlling and updating Health and Safety related documentation of reporting and submittals - Arranging monthly Health and Safety Steering Committee meetings with Management - Attending Project Site Meetings (where applicable) - Performing shop and plant inspections - Setting and monitoring yearly program targets (i.e. meeting attendance, minor accidents, incidents etc.) and compiling these statistics -Dealing with directly with Worksafe when issues arise. Qualifications: - Experience in a related Health and Safety position within the Construction industry - Solid knowledge of WorkSafeBC Act, Regulations and Standards - Proficiency with database applications and administrative systems, specifically Microsoft Office and Windows -Demonstrated experience creating EHS Programs, policies and procedures, and the ability to evaluate and improve processes and safe work procedures -Experience delivering safety orientations and tool-box talks to individuals & groups. -Proven ability to design, implement and evaluate EHS programs & policies and enforce standards and procedures - Strong organizational skills and an ability to work alone, prioritizing tasks and responsibilities accordingly - Excellent relationship building and communication skills - Certified Health & Safety Officer, Trainer or Occupation Health & Safety Representative considered an asset - Travel will be required Education, Certifications and Licence: -OHS Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree (College or University) considered an asset. -WHMIS -Occupational First Aid Level 2 required. -Drivers License Colonial Countertops offers top pay to commensurate with experience, a quality work environment, and health benefits.
