Garden Maintenance Person

Deep Roots Organic Garden Services is hiring an experienced lawn & garden maintenance person for the upcoming gardening season!   Tasks include mowing & trimming, weeding, mulching, pruning, compost making, some hedge trimming and landscaping, etc.   Requirements: familiarity with typical maintenance tasks; experience with commercial self propelled mower, horizontal & vertical line trimming, and hedge trimmer use; driver’s license; steel toed boots.   Must be physically fit, pay attention to detail, be able to work independently and be a non-smoker. Should be able to meet us at our rural Saanich homebase (W. Saanich Red Barn area). Having an actual interest in plants and nature is a major plus; having a PDC or sustainable/regenerative education would be of benefit but not necessary. We need someone who is following covid health orders; you will be required to wear a mask while traveling in the same vehicle as us. About us: We are a husband and wife team and have been in operation for 10+ years. We are plant & soil nerds and use organic practices and are trying to increase our regenerative practices. If you are interested, we can teach you about growing food, permaculture, soil biology and herbalism.   Hours - there is flexibility with the schedule but we are looking for someone who is ok working approximately 30 hours/week (sometimes more, sometimes less) until November with year round employment possible for a motivated candidate looking to take more responsibility.
