FREE HONEYBEE SWARM COLLECTION FOR THE CAPITAL REGION DISTRICT
It's that time of year again when apis mellifera, (the honey bee) swarm as a natural means of reproduction or to relieve congestion in the beehive. The queen signals the colony that a swarm is imminent and the worker bees start producing a new queen. When the new queen is close to hatching the old queen leaves with about 60 % of the bees to start a new colony.
The sight and sound of 20,000 plus bees flying overhead is amazing to see and the whole process is awe inspiring until they land in your backyard looking for a new home. Please, if this happens give me a call and I will come and remove the bees from your property if possible and give them a new home. I am a member of the Capital Region Beekeepers' Association and if I cannot help you I will find someone who can. There is no charge for this service. We just want to help the bees find a home before they end up in your chimney or attic. Thank you, Peter. 250-893-2185
