Older Nissan pickup professionally converted to electric by Canadian Electric Vehicles on Vancouver Island.
Conversion was done approx 15 years ago, and truck was lightly driven. New batteries installed 4 years ago. I purchased this truck a few months ago hoping to get it back on the road. I knew it was a project getting into it and now life circumstances have dictated that I do not have the time to put into it to get it back on the road. The previous owner drove it for a year or so before contactor issues forced him to garage it. This is a project and will take someone with a bit of time and technical know how.
It has 24 fairly new, deep cycle 6V golf cart batteries in custom battery boxes. (144V system)cost over $2000.
It has a new Curtis controller ready to be installed(previous owner felt it was the controller that was the issue so spent $1000 on a new controller which has yet to be installed)
The truck itself is in good shape with new brakes and new tires and little rust (paint is faded though). It is street legal and easily insured listed as electric on the registration.
On the flip side , If you are looking to do your own conversion, It has all the components needed should someone be looking to build their own EV, (motor, controller, charger, batteries, DC/DC converter, power steering and brake pumps, gauges etc... and charges with a standard 120V outlet, 20-30 amp circuit. )
It does not currently drive. I have had the motor working and have driven it back and forth in my driveway, but I think there is a problem with the controller pre-charge circuit and I have had to apply power directly to the main contactor in order to get it to engage
A very cool project for the right person. If you are interested feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. At this point I’m just hoping to get some of the money back I have already invested in it.
