The MS Society is looking to recruit a volunteer Art Program Assistant to help on Wednesdays from 10:00am-2:00pm at Silver Threads with our art program. Our art program is open to all folks looking to participate and make art, regardless of skill or ability. The purpose of the Art Program Assistant role at the MS Society is to assist with the implementation of the program and to help our participants. Join us and make a difference today! Tasks: * Assist clients with set up of their art supplies * Assist the staff supervisor in maintaining the stock of supplies * Clean the brushes, palettes and art area at the end of the day * Offer support and companionship to clients in the Art Program * Provide refreshments to clients in the art room * Assist with lunches as needed (appreciated, but not required) * Liaise with staff and supervisor as necessary or required Time Commitment: * Weekly shift of 2 to 4 hours * Minimum commitment of 6 to 12 months (1 year commitment is preferred) * Attend all scheduled training and orientation sessions Skill Requirements: * Familiarity with the colour wheel, painting styles and paint mediums is an asset * Good communication and interpersonal skills * Punctual and reliable * Enthusiastic * Able to work comfortably with people with disabilities * Able to maintain confidentiality of all personal information gained through interactions at the Center * Able to take initiative Please note, this position requires Consent to Disclosure of Personal Information (Criminal Record Check).
