Community Inclusion Support Worker wanted

We are accepting applications for a part time position of a community support worker for our son. He is a young man with autism and developmental disabilities. He is co-operative, shy, semi-verbal, has a sense of humour, loves country music and movies and Tim Hortons. We are looking for someone patient, enthusiastic and gifted at encouraging, motivating, and facilitating positive interaction with an individual who finds communication and socialization difficult. Duties: accompany on outings to local library and the gym (supervise/direct his work-out.) encourage communication and social engagement. Previous experience working with people with disabilities and training in behavioural intervention an asset. A familiarity with gym equipment and routine would be an advantage. Require criminal record check and 2 written references. Job consists of two 3-hour shifts (Monday 12-3 pm and Wednesday 11:30 - 2:30). Pay rate $20/hour.
