COOKS RESPONSIBLE TO: General Manager QUALIFICATIONS: Grade 12 High School graduate or equivalent Completion of culinary program, journeyman papers, or combination of experience, Red Seal Certification is an asset Leadership skills, and the ability to work alongside your multi-disciplinary team Experience working in an independent living setting Current Foodsafe II and WHMIS certificate Current Criminal Record Check Fluency in oral and written English Neat, well-groomed appearance DUTIES: Carry out all duties associated with food service Prepare nutritious food using various methods of cooking/baking in accordance with established procedures Estimates daily or weekly needs of food and supplies and submit the orders. Maintain established food rotations in storage to minimize spoilage and waste Prepare and ensure snacks and beverages are available to residents at all times. Receive, check and store supplies. Ensure all incoming orders are correct and of good quality. Maintain kitchen and food storage and preparation areas in a clean, safe and sanitary condition Operate and clean kitchen equipment and notifiy General Manager of any equipment malfunction To help provide for the safety of staff and residents and attend safety committee meetings when requested. Be aware of the Fire and Safety Regulations and to abide by all Trillium Communities Policies and WHMIS Attend in service training sessions when appropriate. Promote good public relations within and outside the facility. Ensure, at all times, that resident confidential information is held in strictest confidence, in accordance with Federal and Provincial Privacy legislation Perform any other related duties which may be required.
