Asbestos Laboratory Analyst

Island EHS is a Vancouver Island-based occupational hygiene consulting company. We have an immediate need for a full-time lab analyst to work in our Victoria lab. We provide services to a variety of clients including: * School Districts * Universities * Ship repair facilities * Developers * Construction companies * Restoration companies * Abatement contractors Responsibilities for this position include: * Analyzing bulk samples by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) * Analyzing asbestos air samples by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) * Preparing lab reports * Corresponding with clients * Maintaining internal and external QA/QC programs * Maintaining appropriate records Although experience is preferred we can provide the following training: * Asbestos Identification using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) * Asbestos air sample analysis using PCM The successful candidate will require the following skills: * Science Degree or Diploma * Ability to complete work in a timely fashion * Fluency with Microsoft Office suite * Good client relations * Attention to detail * Organizational skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Technical writing skills This is a permanent full time position.
