$95 · Art-Deco Sunbeam T-1-D 1936 toaster
While I could find many examples of other vintage toasters for sale in the internet, often 10-15 years older than this model, I was unable to find another Sunbeam T-1-D.
This Sunbeam T-1 D was made in 1936 and is still operational. However, I would not rely on the "automatic" feature. This two-slice toaster is "automatic" but not a pop-up. When the toast is done, the toasting panels are supposed turn off automatically. It uses a bi-metal timing mechanism rather than a clock-work hence the name "Silent Automatic." The beautiful chrome body with Bakelite handles sits on an ornate Bakelite base.
It features a faceted glass jewel set in the front that glows orange when the toaster is in operation. (really cool!)
The toaster overall is in very good condition, with only minor signs of wear and some small blemishes on the chrome housing. I would recommend this item more as an Art Deco collectible rather than a household appliance, as this model pre-dates many of today's safety standards.
For a toaster collector it will surely be a nice rarity to own.
