This cast steel fireplace fender was an original fixture in an Oak Bay home, likely dating from about 1910 - 1920. With its cast-relief designs and burnished finish, it would function as a feature piece in either a classic setting or in a more modern home. Hearth fenders were originally designed to be placed on the hearth to prevent logs from rolling out onto the floor. Today they're more commonly used to help create a focal point, but they also deter children and pets from getting too close to the fire. This unit measures 54" wide X 15 1/4" deep X 3 1/2" high. Estimated weight is about 35 lbs. Please email to arrange a time to view in Oak Bay.
