Note: the 2nd and 3rd photos show that the pen holder was welded on at some point after the statue was originally made. The weld marks are a lighter color. This item is from the Bannockburn Farm Estate, one of the oldest homesteads in Western Canada, and home to pioneers William and Margaret Thomson (Dyer). Bannockburn's history began in June 1855, when William Thomson staked 200 acres for himself on Mount Newton on the Saanich Peninsula, paying the Hudson's Bay Company the sum of 14 pounds, 13 shillings and 4 pence for the title deed.
