This could be the best sub-$2000 car on Used Vic. 2005 Pontiac Vibe, which as everyone knows, is a Toyota Matrix in sheep's clothing. It has the much-vaunted Toyota 1.8 litre Vvt-i engine, which delivers power when you need it, but is also known for its excellent fuel economy. Nothing horrible to fault this car on. Mechanically, it is A-1 (just spent $900 two weeks ago on maintenance). It has 286k, which is nothing for these bulletproof Toyota engines. Aesthetically, it has had its share of kids and dogs (but no smokers!), so the interior is not what I would call "pristine," but it's decent enough. It's also extremely roomy in the back with the rear seats folded flat. From a cargo-carrying point of view, it's almost like having a small van or suv. The body is good. Still shines up quite nicely, although there is the occasional scratch, paint chipping on the hood, nothing that you wouldn't expect for a 16 year old car. It's very respectable, and at this price, it's a reasonable deal. It's also a car that you won't require a ton of maintenance in addition to the initial purchase price.
