I have for sale a Gibson SG '62 Reissue from 1987 in excellent condition. Everything is original except the hardshell case. The '62 Reissues are known as "Pre-Historic Reissues" as they predate the custom shop Vintage Original Series (VOS) and the '61 Reissues. They were produced in the late 80's, and either came with the Bill Lawrence "circuitboard" pickups or the Tim Shaw-era PAFs (what this specific guitar has). The action is extremely low and plays effortlessly. As you'd expect from an OG reissue, the substantially thinner than an SG Standard. and it has unprecedented upper fret access thanks to the location of the neck joint. It has a 1 11/16" nut width as most Gibsons and a rosewood fretboard with the block inlays still having plenty of shine on them. The nitro finish has aged finely to a wine color and feels very nice to hold. And unlike most contemporary specimen of this model, this guitar is in excellent condition (see pictures; attached advert of the era explains why so many were trashed) - no cracks, ugly dents or frets to redo. This one has plenty of stories to tell left. I'm not much of a tone connoisseur, but the Tim Shaw-era PAFs have just enough bark to nail classic rock and blues tones, but you can certainly make it metal with some extra help. It gets quite quacky in the middle position, too. The all-mahogany body rings out nicely and can stand out in low-gain settings. Originally purchased at Guitar Plus in downtown Victoria. I'm letting this one go because I've pivoted towards short-scale offsets, and this is too precious of a guitar to just leave in a case unplayed. Asking $1750, no trades. Comes with a non-original hardshell case (pictured). A good discussion page about this specific model can be found here: http://www.everythingsg.com/threads/61-vs-62-reissue.17977/ And for informed shopping, here's Reverb's price history on these late 80's reissues - the price fluctuates wildly due to the variance in condition. As this one is very well preserved, my ask is on the upper half of the price range. https://reverb.com/ca/p/gibson-62-reissue-sg-1986-1991?ended_listing=450847
