$5,900 · 1963 Thunderbird Junior

Approximately 5,000 Thunderbird Juniors were built from 1955 to 1966, closely resembling the full-size Thunderbirds of those years. Built in Mystic, Connecticut by the Powercar Company, they were designed for children but were also used by Ford Dealers as promotional items and prizes to sell the real cars. They were expensive to buy when new. The Thunderbird Juniors were powered by a starter motor with a six-volt battery. Some were also available with a two-strike gasoline engine. I purchased this particular T-Bird Jr, a 1963 model powered by a six-volt battery, from the U.S. in December 2000. Although requiring restoration, the only parts that needed to be replaced were the windshield and the steering wheel. It has been fitted with a new battery. It operates forward and reverse, has a working horn and headlights. Length: 70". Width: 33". Height: 24". Weight (without battery) approx. 138 lbs. Price is $5,900.00. Located in Nanaimo BC.
