Beautiful example of a rare guitar and amp combo. Flame maple neck with mohagany body wings makes this particular example stand out. I don't believe figured woods were commissioned for these guitars, this one just got lucky. I've only ever encountered one other and it didn't have any figuring to the neck. REX was a brand in the 30s and 40s who commissioned instruments from various Chicago manufacturers, harmony, kay and regal. This particular instrument I believe to have been made by Kay. Everything is working and I believe original with the exception being, perhaps, the output cable. The potentiometers on the steel are original and therefor could probably use some restoration or even replacement. The amplifier is early technology, and therefor not very high output. To my surprise, it operates with very little hum and I recently had it professionally overhauled (original, removed components are included) Operating a crosley field coil speaker. Tweed case matches tweed amp and has a plush burgundy interior. beautiful example of a rare early combo. Will trade for other vintage gear or $525! Not going any lower
