$3,950 · 1868 Broadwood Drawing Room Grand Piano

1868 Broadwood Drawing Room Grand Piano image 1

Downton Abbey fans! Now you can own a gorgeous rosewood piano, just like the one in the Drawing Room. The John Broadwood Grand Piano, Model 384 "Short Drawing Room Grand Piano in Rosewood" is seven feet long, and scaled with 85 notes (instead of 88 notes like modern pianos, and typical for that period). It was sold first in London England on May 23 1868. Around 2012, the instrument was refinished and rebuilt (new strings, hammers, felts, etc.). The piano very much plays like one of that era, keys when played do not go down as far as they do on a modern piano, and the "straight strung" design (instead of crossed string design that modern pianos have), provides more of a mid-19th century authentic piano forte sound. What's more, this stylish piano comes with a beautifully restored matching bench, also in rosewood. Best of all, when you purchase this unique and special piano, the proceeds will support the Victoria Conservatory of Music, the non-profit organization that makes music accessible to people of all ages and abilities, since 1964. Asking $4,000 (or your best offer). Call us today for a viewing.
