FLYING HORSE Fuzhou Lacquered Wood Set of 3 Nested Trays - China - Early 20th These beautifully decorated trays employ the technique of "engraved gold" (qiangjin ), in which an adhesive of lacquer is applied to fine lines incised on the lacquer surface, and gold foil or powdered gold is pressed into the grooves; and "filled-in" (diaotian or tianqi ), where lacquer is inlaid with lacquer of another color. * Vintage, collectible * Beautiful pieces of art * Hand-painted with mountainous landscapes and a palace scene. The trays are oval in shape and the largest measures 12.25" by 8". This gorgeous set of 3 Asian black lacquer nesting trays features a different hand-painted landscape on each tray. These trays are in very good vintage condition except for minor crack on side of the tray (pictured above) otherwise fully functional. The paintings are vibrant and very pretty, in excellent condition.
