FIBRATIONS Festival – 11 years of celebrating community and all things fibre Sunday, August 21, 2022 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Fernwood Community Center, 1240 Gladstone Ave, Lekwungen Territory/Victoria FREE! This year Fibrations Festival celebrates eleven years of bringing together fibre artists from across BC with a one-day outdoor free event featuring more than 60 artists. This community based festival takes place in the park next to Fernwood Community Centre and includes a marketplace of fibre exhibitors, demonstrations, hands-on activities for kids, a toonie raffle and a Felt-A-Thon to raise funds for the Pacheedaht Nation. Organised by Jenny Ambrose from the Makehouse, the Felt-A-Thon teaches needle felting and participants can create needle felted pieces to be sold to raise funds. After suspending the festival 2 years ago due to COVID-19, the 10th anniversary was a reunion for artists and makers from across the province. Now in its 11th year, Fibrations promises an even bigger vendor list in its new larger location in Fernwood. The event builds community by gathering together those with a passion for all things fibre – whether it be knitting, weaving, felting, crocheting, spinning. Fibrations 2021 will feature demonstrations by Knotty By Nature, Victoria Spinners and Weavers Guild, Nan.C Designs and more. Whether you are an enthusiast, maker, crafter or curious about fibre arts, there is something for everyone at Fibrations. For a full list of exhibitors participating, see the Fibrations Festival website. A big notable change this year is that the Festival has been moved to the Fernwood Community Center and William Stevenson Park behind it. This popular all ages fall event attracts up to 1,000 people over the course of the day and will this year be running with COVID-19 Safety protocols. Fibrations is a community based, volunteer-run festival organised by a group of artists aiming to showcase the diverse range of fibre arts being created locally while also inspiring others to give knitting, weaving, felting, crocheting, spinning and other fibre arts a go. The event attracts knitters, felters, crafteres and crocheters looking to buy unique, hand-dyed and -spun roving, yarn, and other locally sourced materials.
