Made in the early 70s when the Japanese really put a lot of effort into the details. Not the 88-A model which had foam surrounds; this has cloth surrounds on the 12" bass driver as well as the mid and tweeters. Foam rots in 15 years; cloth surrounds will last "forever". All drivers have alnico magnets and the bass driver has a cast aluminum frame. All 4 inductors in the elaborate crossover are air core and the cabinet is 3/4" plywood except for back panel. Perfect functioning and physical condition except fo a couple of stains on the tops. 99 dB/W sensitivity means it can be driven loud with a flee powered amplifier - tube? This is a good sounding speaker, better than a JBL L100 and more sensitive, too. Selling (ideally to an appreciative buyer) because we don't have the space for them anymore. They are 14 3/16 x 24 13/16 x 13 inches and weigh 48 lb apiece. (36 X 63 X 33 cm, 22 kg) https://theadditionstudio.com/pioneer-cs-88-lost-art-loud-speaker-cabinet-building/
