Spruce trees for sale. These are the full size variety, not dwarf cultivars often found at garden centres. Suitable for creating blinds or wind breaks in somewhat soggy soil. Great for creating year-round privacy in your backyard. I found these full-size variety of spruce trees particularly difficult to find in Victoria, so I raised my own. I grew these trees for planting in areas with a relatively low water table. The Douglas fir trees I had planted in a wet region in my yard didn't survive, so I decided to see how these spruce trees would fare. I selected Norway, White, and Black spruce trees after doing some online research about which types of evergreen trees handle soggy soil the best. Based on some reading, black spruce can handle soggy soil best and will grow in northern swamps, but it also grows the slowest of the three. The next best candidate for wet soil is white spruce with a modest growth rate, followed by Norway spruce; Norway spruce being the fastest grower. The Norway spruces I planted in my backyard in Dec 2016 have since survived in my wet region, so I have decided to sell off most of my surplus backup trees. As these have been in pots for 4 years, you will want to ensure that you root prune them prior to planting. This means that any roots that are turning in circles or are overly tangled, you'll want to prune them, but don't get too carried away. This is what I have for sale: Black Spruce (Picea mariana) 5 yrs old up to 3' tall #10 pot - $40/ea (1 left) White Spruce (Picea glauca) 6 yrs old up to 4' tall #10 pot - $40/ea (3 left) #15 pot - $50/ea (2 left) Norway Spruce (Picea abies) 5 yrs old up to 3'5" tall #10 pot - $40/ea (2 left) Cash only. Due to a variety of factors outside of my control, there is no warranty on these if they don't survive. I've had no trouble keeping them alive for 4 years. Note that nurseries often reference a #10 pot as "10 gallon" and #15 pot as "15 gallon". Up-potted on 11 April 2021, meaning the #6 trees were transplanted to #10 pots and the #10 trees were transplanted to #15 pots. Thus, no more #6 pots for sale.
