Accountant

Aston Carter's large Aviation client is urgently looking to add an Accountant to their team on a med-long term contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a passion for accounting and is eager to learn and step into a higher level role. The Accountant will perform the following duties, along with helping out other departments such as AR, AP, Payroll etc. The Accountant will perform financial accounting transactions, including monthly journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, other related financial accounting functions. -Complete various GL account reconciliations and performs account analysis on a monthly basis, per month end schedule. -Prepares and analyzes monthly journal entries and posts to accounting systems, per month end schedule. -Reconcile internal reporting system with consolidated financial statements, monthly. -Maintain intercompany accounts including verifying, reallocating, and posting intercompany transactions. Prepare intercompany reports and communicate to relevant parties. -Assist with annual budget preparation. -Maintain tangible and intangible asset registers. -Files monthly government tax remittances. -Analyze, research and resolve complex problems, as requested. -Assist with the annual external and internal audits, as requested. -Liaise with various internal offices and employees, provide financial assistance as a ‘service provider’ to the various stakeholders and departments within the organization. -Performs other duties as requested by the Accounting Manager. Ad Hoc projects and requests as needed. -Assist with the oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, and provide invoicing support for complex billing. -Back-up to critical accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, when needed (vacation coverage). Must Haves: -2+ years of experience within a full cycle accounting environment -Intermediate to advanced Excel skills -Accounting education i.e. diploma, bachelor -Experience within a high volume manufacturing environment Nice to Have: -In pursuit of CPA designation -Experience in a team lead role -Experience in a shared services accounting environment -Experience in multiple currencies Soft Skills: -Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment -Self-motivated and proactive -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills -Problem solver
