Janitor Handyman

The Salvation Army Sunset Lodge -LTC facility is currently seeking a Janitor Handyman to join the Services Department for our 108-bed complex care facility. The Janitor/Handyman performs a variety of custodial duties and minor maintenance repairs necessary to keep the facility in a clean and orderly condition which contributes to the efficient daily operations. CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES: The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class: Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, stripping and waxing of flooring Clean and sanitize public and staff bathrooms, Clean sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms, restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms and common areas Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary, Empty all recycle bins and separate into appropriate bins Maintain janitorial area in a clean, organized and safe manner, ability to function and maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals Remove snow from sidewalks and spread snow melting chemicals Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings, Hang paintings and photos Receives delivery and re-stocks housekeeping and nursing storage areas with supplies, Records and notifies FSM of depleting supplies Responsible for minor repairs in electrical and plumbing NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties. The successful applicant will hold/have: WHMS, Basic Plumbing, and Electrical knowledge Salary Corresponding with Facilities/HEU Collective Agreement
