Antique leather bound hardcover. 1776, Forth Edition. The Annual Register, or a View of the History, Politics, and Literature for the Year 1763. Printed for J. Dodsley, in Pall-Mall, 1776. Front cover detached. Poor condition due to age and wear. A good candidate for rebinding. Full leather, 5 bands. 3 maps with some paper tears. (1) A map of the British Dominions in North America with the limits of the Governments annexed hereto by the late peace treaty of October 7th 1763. Large paper tear going into map images and old tape on the backside. (2) Missing 2nd Map - the seat of war on the coast of France, Spain, Portugal, Italy. (3) An accurate map of the seat of the war in the Kingdom of Prussia (Bohemia, Lusatania, Silesia, Saxony and Westphalia). (4) Map of the seat of war in the Empire of the Great Mogul (India) Content relating to Canada in first Section. - Chapter V page 18 to p24 - Chapter VI page 24 to p.32 Appendix to Chronicle - An account of the mutiny at Quebec - A proclamation in relations to acquisitions in North America Content relating to Canada in second Section from p. [1] to 307; -An Elegy on the Death of Wolfe The Seven Years war had ended 1756-63 (this was the reason for the maps). Plus dozens of other interesting articles on a variety of subjects. The Annual Register first published in 1758. Sir Edmund Burke was an early editor and principal contributor, widely recognised as the most valuable record of historical and political events, the most accurate accounts you can find, still used today as a reference by modern historians.
