Beautiful deep green in colour, large gallery quality sculpture. Made from Opal stone, a semi-precious stone that is similar in colour to jade. The original Gallery appraised value was $2,400. The sculpture is very heavy, over 200lbs, as it is over 4ft high. This SHONA Stone sculpture is signed and was made by SONALD ZIBAKO, born in Murehwa, Zimbabwe in 1976. African stone sculptures from Zimbanwe are referred to as Shona sculptures named after the largest tribe engaged in stone sculpting. Zimbabwe-derived from the Shona word dzimbadzamanwe, which means House of Stone.
